What it is

• If the Anchor Big is a true non-shooter, the offense becomes easier to defend because the Anchor Big's defender can sag freely.
• One dominant creator (Primary Ball Handler), secondary creation (Shot Creator), spacing via movement (the Movement Shooter), big-man versatility (Versatile Big can pass and space).
• A player is no longer a "shooting guard"—he is identified by the offensive actions he initiates and the defensive role he occupies.

Why it matters

• Position labels collapsed because they conflated two separate dimensions: size and function.
• A 6'10" player could be a Primary Ball Handler (guard-like functions in a small-ball lineup) or an Anchor Big (rim protection in a traditional set).
• A 6'3" player could be a Stationary Shooter (spot-up only) or a Shot Creator (initiating offense).
• The archetype framework separates function from morphology.

How it works

• The replacement is not arbitrary; it is archetype-based.
• A player is no longer a "shooting guard"—he is identified by the offensive actions he initiates and the defensive role he occupies.
• This shift occurred because switching defense became the dominant defensive architecture.
• Once all five defenders could reasonably guard all five opponents (through appropriate matchup pairing), the traditional position became irrelevant.
