The 1-2-2 zone is often employed as a full-court or three-quarter court press.
When the ball is passed from one wing to the corner on the same side (a dribble or pass along the baseline), the baseline player on that side steps out to pressure the corner.
The 2-3 zone is the most common zone defense in basketball.
Zone offense is distinct from man-to-man offense because the defense is organized around areas and gaps rather than players.
Screening in zone offense is different from screening in man-to-man because zone defenders cannot switch on screens without abandoning their zone responsibility.
