DHO Into Drag Screen

What it is

• Setup: Handler initiates DHO with big.

How it works

• Mechanics: Handler dribbles toward big (Versatile Big or Stretch Big)
• Mechanics: Big moves laterally, receives DHO
• Mechanics: Big immediately pivots and sets drag screen on handler's defender
• Mechanics: Handler comes off drag screen with space
• Mechanics: Handler attacks (shot, drive, pass)

Reads and counters

• Handler reads the DHO hand-off defender first; if his man trails the exchange, turn the corner downhill immediately before the drag is even needed.
• Coming off the drag, read the big's defender: if he drops to wall the paint, rise into the pull-up; if he hedges out, slip the big to the short roll behind it.
• If the defense switches the drag, attack the new on-ball defender right away before help loads, or hit the rolling big on the early mismatch.
• Handler reads the low man and weakside tags; if a help defender stunts off the corner, spray to that shooter for the catch-and-shoot three.
• If the hand-off itself is jumped or topped, keep the dribble alive and let the big re-screen, turning the DHO into a true two-side drag attack.
