Reads and counters

• Ball handler reads the roller's defender: if that big stays low fearing the lob, pull up off the screen or hit the popped back-screener at the arc.

• The roller reads the back-screener's defender: if that man tags the roll, the screener slips straight to the rim before the tag arrives.
• The back-screener reads his own man: if that defender helps down on the lob, the screener relocates and pops for the open three off the handler's kick.
• Against a high hedge or blitz, the handler reads the 4-on-3 behind it and swings to the short-roll big to attack the scrambled back line.
