How it works

• Spain action combined with skip passes
• Variations with the back screener popping to the arc instead of the rim
• Disguising Spain action with initial Horns/Elbow entry before setting up the Spain

Reads and counters

• Ball handler reads the roller's defender: if the back-screen pins him, attack downhill for the lob; if he ducks under, the roll-man dives clean.
• Read the back-screener's defender (the low tagger): if he jumps to help on the roll, kick to the popped screener spotting up at the arc.
• Against a drop, the handler reads the big's depth: pull up in the pocket if he sinks, snake middle if he sits at the level.
• On any blitz or hard hedge, get off the ball early and play 4-on-3 behind it with the screener short-rolling.
• Disguise it from Horns or Elbow entry, then read the coverage that develops as the second ball screen flows into the Spain stack.
