How it works
- Protects the paint, limits easy scoring in the lane.
- Trade-off: vulnerability at the high post, corner, and baseline.
- High Post / Elbow: Both top guards must react but often arrive late — a skilled elbow player can hit cutters, attack the lane, or shoot the mid-range
- Short Corner / Baseline: Dead zone between corner and block — wing defender caught between both
- Corner Three: Skip pass forces the opposite bottom defender to cover 20+ feet in under a second
